A shift in focus is all it takes…

When you are caught in a condition that seems to have such a tenacious grip on your attention such as a fever, a persistent cough, a sore toe, a skin rash, a pressing family matter or a bullying boss, it can be hard to focus on anything else.

At such times, it feels like there is nothing else happening in the world or around you but this particular situation or condition. It can negate or eclipse all the good things about your life of which there are infinitely more.

Sure, your attention may be drawn vaguely and reluctantly to other things momentarily, but by and large, your focus remains predominantly fixed on your particular distressing condition or situation.

If you are in the habit of feeling gratitude, of appreciating everything, from the ‘trivial’ and ‘mundane’ to the ‘significant’ and ‘grand’, then you may find it easy enough to shift your focus to things that you can be grateful for. In fact, it actually gets quite fun and a whole lot more interesting when you start to notice and appreciate the things that you would typically miss or dismiss…

Walls, paint, road tar, concrete, shoes, skin, bones, teeth, space, glass, dirt/soil, railings, curbsides, steering wheels, gears, chemicals, the breath, eyes, nose, lips, ears, ground, machines, factories, leaves, tree trunks, guitar strings, fret boards, saliva, hearing, sinuses, tickets…

Just a few moments of this causes a major shift in focus and and elevation of the vibrations in your energy field which effortlessly predisposes you to healing or recalibrating your situation, reviewing it, seeing it afresh, recognizing how much power you truly and naturally have, how all perceived threats are just that – objects of our perceptions, outcomes of our beliefs.

Do it often and you have little time or willingness to focus on your distressing situation/condition – NO MATTER HOW CHRONIC.

If you are not in the habit of feeling gratitude, of appreciating, cultivate it. In fact, it’s a natural thing in all of us.

You see it most vividly in children who seem to simply and rather matter-of-factly ‘enjoy’ things.

There’s no sense of indebtedness or guilt or unworthiness in children – just a simple, uncomplicated appreciation demonstrated by their engagement with whatever it is they have their attention on.

Healing, returning to the natural state of wholeness, is actually effortless requiring nothing more than a shift in focus which will itself set off other responses and prompts to action.

Be attentive to these, be guided by them and see how faithfully you are restored to your natural state of power, peace, possibility and total wellbeing.
