You know how you sometimes get an impulse to call someone and tell them something wonderful because you’re feeling the joy of it?
Or you get an image of skate boarding right around a football stadium with your hair flying in the wind and your arms wide open to the world and your smile so wide it separates the top half of your face from the bottom? And you don’t even know how to skate board?
Or you get a sense of how amazing it feels to share something deep and meaningful with someone knowing that they will feel the depth and get the richness of the meaning?
And if you do get such impulses, then you probably also know how quickly their flame is doused by your rational and conditioned mind telling you what a daft idea that is! So that the joy and delight and wonderfulness that you were feeling only seconds ago drops with a colossal thud like a lead balloon?
Moments of joy such as these are moments of genuine connection with our true nature.
But they are often killed, stomped upon, within nanoseconds by a mind conditioned to present you with the worst case scenarios rather than the best, such as:
Oh, what if that person is busy? What if they are in an important meeting? What if they are feeling depressed and your glee will just about drive them to suicide?
Or
You don’t even know how to skate board, you twat! Or, what if you fell and broke your neck or your spine?
Or
What if that person doesn’t get it? Or, worse still, laughs in your face? Or thinks you’re an absolute idiot?
Most of us are programed into pessimism which is a direct outcome of fear. Even the optimist recognizes the strong urge to expect the worst but has trained herself to replace that urge with an even stronger assurance of or faith in a better outcome.
Children are natural optimists but they have that marvelous quality snuffed out very early in life by well-intentioned though misguided parents, teachers and other folk who believe it is their duty to prepare them for a cruel, unfair and unsafe world.
You know about the self-fulfilling prophecy, don’t you? As you expect, so you will experience. And while it is true that the conditioned mind is so good at what it does, leaving you little time to intercept it, you know, you can train yourself to make a quick recovery. That is, until you train yourself to stay present enough that there is nothing to recover from!
In the meantime, be assured that
the vibrations of joy, excitement, love, kindness and wonderfulness that accompany that initial impulse are never wasted.
Quite the contrary. They have already sent ripples throughout the universe and any being, human or otherwise, that is ready to resonate with them will! Which leaves you with only one thing left to do:
To be guided by that impulse in whatever way feels good for you for the simple reason that
what feels good is nothing other than the vibrations of love.
