It is wonderful to recognize the fact that each moment is a moment of infinite potential, that in this moment, right here and right now, anything is possible.

when you find yourself feeling a little flat or discontented or when you feel guilt or any other kind of unpleasant emotion creeping up on you. Any time that you feel stuck or feel you’re emotionally spiraling downward, remembering that this moment, right here and right now, is a moment of infinite potential can be a powerful game changer. Try it out for yourself. You will see that if you allowed it, you could experience excitement, joy or a creative burst of energy and you can experience this without having to move a muscle.

At first, doing this might feel awkward and bring up the typical resistances of the Ego, the conditioned mind. Be patient. Allow the Ego to say what it has to say and then, when it’s done, calmly and quietly say: Yes, I’ve heard you dear Ego. Now, listen up. It is a fact that this moment could be filled with excitement and joy and I am going to allow it. (Are you smiling? If so, that’s just confirming how easy it is to shift your state of consciousness :)). Like any new habit you’re seeking to cultivate, it will take practice. But I assure you, both you and the Ego will get used to it 🙂

Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life

Just entertaining that possibility, that thought, will bring about an instantaneous shift. Now, if you continue to soak yourself in that thought, it will give rise to other thoughts that are of a similar vibration as well as feelings that match this vibration. What you must remember is that thinking the thought must be done with an open and inviting attitude. If you merely thought in a dead-pan sort of way – This is a moment of infinite possibilities. Anything could happen right now – it is unlikely that you’ll experience a shift. However, if you did it with a real sense of possibility – Hey, I really don’t know what’s going to happen right now. Something really exciting could happen. Why don’t I just dwell on that possibility for a while? – you will be entering a pathway to that very possibility.

(A note of caution here: Excitement, like Joy, Happiness, Confidence and so on, can have many different expressions/faces. Most of us have been conditioned to recognize and name and therefore experience only a few, perhaps one or two expressions of each. But you can experience excitement in a quiet, gentle way. You can experience it in a loud, animated way. You can also experience it as a delightful curiosity or a magical image…Don’t decide exactly what form excitement (or joy or confidence or anything else) is going to take. Give yourself the freedom to experience it just the way it happens in any given moment.)

If you doubt this, then consider the alternative: If I continue to think unpleasant, dull and disempowering thoughts, am I going to start feeling wonderful? Clearly not. You know, from countless experiences, that if you think unpleasant thoughts, you are going to feel pretty awful. Equally, from other experiences, you’ve seen that when you think fun and lively and empowering thoughts, you start feeling that way. Neurologically, our thoughts and feelings and physiology are very closely and intimately connected. When one component is activated, the other components are also activated.

Another thing you can do is to remember the other people in the world and start blessing them. How do you bless? Simply hold the feeling-thought that they are well, that the joy of the universe surges through them and that they have big smiles on their faces and in every cell of their body. Imagine them in this way and you will find that you cannot do this without you yourself entraining in that vibration of joy and delight and wellbeing. You see, in order to imagine this about other people, you have to use, as reference, the image of your own body and when you do, you’re activating all those components of thought, feeling and physiology in yourself!

Are these psychological tricks? You could view them in that way. I prefer to think of them as ways of returning to our true nature which is one of joy, of bliss, of infinite possibility AND oneness. As more and more of us are beginning to understand and experience, beneath the veneer of physical reality and its projections of separated selves, there is nothing but an infinite and unified energy field which we might call I, I AM, God, Infinite Intelligence, Love and so on.

Each moment, therefore, is an opportunity to consciously shift into the consciousness of Love, of our true nature.
