When you awaken the Truth in someone, you’ll feel the joy that they feel within them. You’ll feel it in their smile, in the way their face lights up, in the way they speak, in the way they move.
Sometimes, however, some people will not give themselves permission to hear the Truth and delight in it. Maybe you’re one of them. You might have shut the door on Truth and bolted it, giving it no chance to show itself. Meanwhile, you’ve adapted to a stack of lies that the Ego has been laying on you. And the biggest lie is that Truth is terrifying.
You don’t believe that, you say? Ah, but perhaps you believe that Love is terrifying. Or that God is terrifying. Or that Life is terrifying. Or that none of these can be trusted. After all, you’ve got your cozy stack of lies upon which you go to bed and from which you arise day after day. You are comfortable with it. Why fix what ain’t broken?
But it is broken. So very badly and you’ve adapted so very well to its brokenness that you’re reluctant to change anything. In fact, you believe that brokenness is who you are. Broken and separated.
So, let me tell you a secret.
It’s not Truth or Love or God that is terrifying. It is what you believe you must do with it that is terrifying. And your Ego has convinced you that what you must do is too hard, too risky, too scary.
Now here’s how the Ego is so ingenious. It doesn’t tell you it’s impossible because if it did, well, there’d be no problem, would there? It’s impossible. You can forget about it. Game over. No, the Ego tells you that it is too hard, too painful, too risky, too scary, that you’re not up to it. Perhaps someone else. Just not you. Which means that while it discourages you from accepting Truth, it also punishes you with criticism and self-persecution for not accepting Truth. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
So here’s what I want you to know:
Neither Truth nor Love nor God demands anything.
Yes, please read that again. Oh, never mind. I’ll say it again:
Neither Truth nor Love nor God nor Life (all the same) demands anything.
On the contrary, it wants to hold your hand, caress you like it would a baby or a lover and sing you lullabies and love songs. And if you fall asleep, it will smile with utter delight. And if you curl up and beg for more, it will indulge you endlessly. And if you were struck with a lightning rod of Inspiration, to love the world, to save the planet, to dance across the globe, to climb mountains or swim oceans, to befriend cobras or lead a revolution, to declare your devotion to a rock or a person, to make tonnes of money, to invent a mind-reader or paint an intergalactic masterpiece, it would run with you like a dog would with its human companion.
You see, Truth which is Love which is God is YOU and as YOU, it is always on your side. I know that seems a little odd logically, but I think you get what I mean.
So, don’t push Truth away or suppress or deny it. That would be pushing away or suppressing or denying your SELF. Instead, meet it as if it were your best friend because it is! And remember: Anything that you feel forced or obliged to do has nothing to do with Truth. It is your Ego and it’s pushing Truth away, denying and suppressing it. It’s an ancient trick. Don’t fall for it.
Instead, meet Truth. Hug it. Kiss it. Sit it down beside you and let it serenade you. And let it make happen everything that you desire because really, Truth is your Heart-Reader. It reads your heart’s desires. Every one of them. Even and especially those that you have been afraid to read.
